On August 1, 2022, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) will establish a Voluntary Notification System (VNS) for Health Supplements (HS) and Traditional Medicines (TM). This initiative aims to create a secure, reliable, and usable local database for transactions, enhancing traceability and follow-up actions by the HSA in the event of safety or quality issues.
Currently, the VNS accepts voluntary notifications for four types of products, and only companies registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) in Singapore are eligible to submit these notifications:
- Weight loss products
- Pain relief products
- Male vitality enhancement products
- Vitamin and mineral supplements
To demonstrate compliance with the required safety and quality standards, as well as labeling regulations, companies participating in the VNS must provide relevant documents to the HSA. The following documents are required for notification submission and should be sent as attachments within two working days to HSA_TMHS@hsa.gov.sg:
- A copy of the submitted form
- Manufacturer's license/certification
- Certificate of Analysis
- Final artwork or product label
- Laboratory test report for toxic heavy metals and microbial limits
- Laboratory test report for poison screening
- Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) report
- Undertaking form for website address or QR code on packaging materials
- Checklist of documentary requirements for voluntary notification of Consumer Health Products (CHP)
Dealers must use the specified form submissions, and the HSA may request additional information relevant to the application.
