REGULATORY UPDATE | WHAT CAN BE MEASURED IN THE PATIENT MONITOR

Medical Devices already have sophisticated features as the times develop, even every day, there are discoveries of medical devices to cure patients. Especially in the operating room, the operating room has a lot of medical equipment that has an important role such as patient monitor.

Patient monitor is a medical device that has a function to assist hospital staff in providing information about the condition of patients who are being treated. Doctors who are treating patients can find out the physical condition of the patient's body being treated in real time using the Patient monitor by attaching several hoses to the patient's body. The information contained in the patient monitor screen is commonly referred to as parameters. Parameters are the physiological parts of the patient that are examined through the patient monitor. What parameters can be measured on the patient monitor:

ECG (Electrocardiogram)

Is a heart check on heart rate and heart rate rhythm . Information that is usually given is expressed in numbers. In general, the heart is stated to be normal with hint 60-100 beats per minute.

Respiration

Is an examination of the patient's breath in order to help determine the patient's breathing condition and determine the condition of the patient's lungs whether the air space in his lungs is functioning well or not to receive the air.

SpO2

It is a measurement of the level of oxygen in the patient's blood. Oxygen levels in normal blood are 80-100 mmHg.

NIBP (Non Invasive Blood Pressure)

Parameters that are useful for knowing the blood pressure in the patient's body. Normal blood pressure is usually 120/80.

Invasive Blood Pressure

Parameters that are useful for knowing the blood pressure in the body through the blood vessels directly. By inserting the cannula needle into the right artery. The advantage of this technique to measure blood pressure more precisely.

EtCo2 (End Tidal Co2)

Measurement of carbon dioxide levels in the patient's respiratory system when the patient exhales carbon dioxide expressed as a percentage of CO2 or mmHg. For normal levels of carbon dioxide in the respiratory system is 5%-6% CO2 or equivalent to 35-35mmHg.

Temperature

Parameters to measure the body temperature of the patient being examined. Normal body temperature is 36.5-37.5 degrees celsius.
